New Career Path

Hello all,

I have been reading this forum for quite some time and benefited greatly from it.

I did however, end up taking a job at Liberty National. It hasn't been that bad, and the bonus system is great.

Now I'm looking at going independant mainly because Libnat makes you forfeit your commission account balance and renewals if you leave the company. I would rather do that now instead of waiting to have a lot of money built up.

I'm thinking of starting my agency with health and life on my own for a couple of months but I am writing my business plan to take on a partner that is very savvy and experienced in P & C. The reason we are not jumping in right away is simply waiting to get the rest of the start up capital. We have about 25% of what we need to have one years expenses plus our salaries and we are going to the bank for the rest.

Just wanted to ask for any insight, encouragement, or advice and introduce myself as this has been a great place for a ton of information as I got started.

Thanks to everyone.

Love it down there. Growing up we used to fish around Teakettle Creek, Doboy Sound, and all around Patterson Island.

Hello Georgia Agent. I met with branch manager yesterday and I'm supposed to start with LibNat on Monday. I've read some horror stories but have seen some good things as well. Looking to obtain some advice from someone that's been with them for a while. You've stated your reason for leaving so that's clear. This would be my first insurance gig and I'm just trying to make the right decision for me at this time. Any advise?
