New HO company in California, Bamboo

Look, I don't think it's ideal either. But just for the sake of healthy conversation, I'll be devils advocate.

Don't Geico and Progressive place their HO elsewhere? I'm out of the personal insurance game, so I don't know for sure, but I think so.

Geico uses Liberty Mutual and occasionally Travelers. Progressive purchased ASI a few years ago and has rolled it out to their better agencies in most states. They are doing a pretty good job with it too. ASI was always a good stand alone company and now Progressive owns them. I think Homesite still insures some Progressive customers but they are not a good market IMHO.

My Allstate broker secured my homeowners policy with Bamboo. Filed a water damage claim and it has been an uphill battle. The restoration company (Bamboo/Code Blue 360) sent out fraudulently billed 14K for equipment and services they did not use or do. The field adjustor for Bamboo submitted an estimate for repairs (both bathrooms were sealed off, leaving no access). Bamboo has acknowledged that a complete kitchen, flooring for the entire home, interior paint for the entire home, and both restrooms are accepted claims. Basically 80% of the home, first offer was $15,400. Bamboo agreed to reassess to include two complete restrooms for repairs (tub, vanity, fixtures, lighting ect..) second offer increased by $2600 giving a grand total of $18,000.
My lowest estimate is 40K.
Bamboo is a joke, I wouldn't recommend them and if you have the chance ASAP!!
