Hello all,

I have been reading the posts on this site for a couple of days now and I do have thick skin, so let me have it.

- I have been in commission sales for over 15 years and my wife (who is currently licensed P&C) has said that I would be perfect for Life and Health. My questions are:

1) Do I start out with American General or do I go Independent and why?
2) Does anyone know of a good independent based west of Atlanta?
3) Does anyone know of any good websites that I could go to for basic information on selling insurance so that I don't waste a lot of people's time on this web site.

Thank you in advance as this is probably the most professional forum I have been on in a long time.

Selling what?

1) Depends. What attracts you to Am Gen?
2) Seems like there is an Am Gen office in the Douglasville, Dallas area. Probably others.
3) This is the source. If you have not talked to Mark Rosenthal about life sales you are missing out on some good ideas.

this is probably the most professional forum I have been on in a long time.

Really?

Well, it can get rowdy.

I was going to recommend Mark as well, but only after talking about you there Somarco.....LOL. Welcome to the forum. We are glad to have you here.

I could see (maybe) if someone who had been with American General for years deciding to stick with them through these tough times.

But I can't imagine why anyone would choose them to make a fresh start with them today. There is just a negative image in the public's mind when they hear the name.

What makes you choose them?

I will be glad to help you and answer any questions that you may have on the Life Side. I also have a couple of ideas that would help you get started. You are also local to me and could come by my office and get some training in person.

My phone number is 877-968-5757. Give me a phone call or send me an email with your info.

CLick Here to see some of my ideas.

AG has good product in term life insurance but not good to work as a captive agent. We have quite a few agents transferred to my company from A G. AG lacks good mentor system and commission was not great according to my information.

If you go with IMO, it does not matter it it in Atlanta or not. If you just join to a local agency, anyone you can just talk to them.

Finding a mentor is much helpful than anything else.

Thank you for all of the responses.

I sold mostly high end retail, art, and some b2b.
What attracted me to AG was the training pay to get started. A little base right now is needed. Since the recession my wife had a baby girl, so I thought I needed stability. I jumped from commission to being a store mgr for family dollar:1baffled:. What was I thinking?

Mark, I would love to talk with you. Thank all of you again for the support ya'll show us newbies, it's very encouraging.
