Important Note!

There is a new virus out there called "Conficker".

It's currently in standby mode waiting to be executed.

Please backup your files and important data.

This virus is in full swing for over a month now. It will come back in stronger effect on April 1-st due to importance of email virals on that day.

This could be ugly.
I'm a former IT guy and still have a lot of ties in the industry....a Lot of people are worried on this one...and no one is sure what it will do.
The most common thought is it's the big brother of the vundo/sysguard bomb....it turns your machine into a zombie and tricks people into buying fake anti virus software ( were you give your credit card info to God knows who). It hit my home office network and was brutal to remove.
Or it could be a "traffic" bomb that bombards the web with empty traffic...

They were talking about it on 60 minutes. Make sure your anti virus software is updated and Microsoft firewall. This might be a big one.

To update firewall go into program files and at the top run "Windows update". Run it a couple of times to make sure you get all the updates.

It won't infect the Mac.

Really?
Although it probably won't Infect ( maybe...there is Mac malware!)
If it's a "traffic" bomb...where the virus makes the host machine fire off endless packets that cause Directory or company servers to crash, EVERYONE will be Effected.

And make sure your anitvirus IS working/turned on! many viruses/malware WILL turn it off!
And even if you have Norton or MacAffee....you might want to wander over to superantispyware.com or malwarebytes.org....they both have legit and very effective detectors/cleaners/tools that are free.
Load the cleaner onto a USBthumb/flash drive...as many new viruses will not allow you to load an antivirus software after infection( they're getting too smart).
I had the most current Norton and McAffee on my home network when it got hit....neither caught the virus!
