Having decided to make a career change after many years of working for 'corporate' as a general manager, I am resolved to make it in insurance (I'm a single dad of a four year boy and want to spend time with him). Recently attaining my GA license in P&C, along with Health and Life, I am trying to find a good General Agency to align myself with but at the same time be an independent broker. I'm connected with several health and life companies, but I'm having a hard time finding a Agent that can connect me with more P&C companies. Should I look for a company in my local area, or should I try to find someone that is outside of my area who won't be afraid of me taking their business? I'm ready to roll, but I feel like I'm just spinning my wheels so far. Any advice you can provide or a point in the right direction would be great.
