NO Commissions on Fed Exchange W/ Subsidy

I heard that if an individual/family applies via the Fed exchange that an insurance agent will not get a commission if it is subsidized. Cases for individuals under 45K and families under 90k will get a subsidy; that is a huge population!

There might be big differences in commissions between the Federally Operated, State Operated and Partnership exchanges. But I can't see any carrier saying this early in the game exactly what the commission rate will be for on-exchange purchases.

First the few carriers that will be on Exchanges need to find out if Sebelius will let them charge the premiums they need. She's indicated that HHS may deny some requests and work to force other premiums lower. The higher the premium, the more subsidies the Feds have to pay.

K. Sebelius already attempts to publically "shame" companies that plan increases larger than 10%. I wonder what the HHS reaction will be when they see requests of 50% to 120%?

Well she can always use the bully pulpit, but if the carriers don't want to play they will simply ignore her and then what will she do?

She can't force them to participate.
