Now What Do I Do?

So I want to get started selling health insurance here in Texas again, and I need to take the test because I've been away from the industry for a few years.

Well of course I realize the need to study for the exam so I go to this website that offers online study material etc for $95. I pay the money, study as much as I can and all is right with the world.

Well I go to log in just a few moments ago and lo and behold my login has been blocked. Turns out that the course is TIMED and after 45 days, no more access.

So now, though fortunately i've printed much of the documents for study while away from the computer, I was only about 3/4's of the way done.

I really cannot afford to pay another ninety-five dollars and I desperately want to get this exam passed so that I can start selling again.

Does anyone PLEASE know where I can get my hands on study material for the Texas Life, Accident & Health Insurance License Exam? Online or hard copy makes no difference to me.

I'll buy it from you as well, if it's a reasonable price.

Thanks very much in advance for any help.

IF you can't afford $95 to put into this business again, how you are going to make it when you get your lic?

If you have no money to put into this business, you are not going to last long, when you get your lic.

You can find used books on ebay and craigslist cheap by the way.

If you're short on cash flow, consider going to work for one of the home service agencies: American National or Reliable. They pay you a salary, and will usually work you through a temporary license until you get permanent, to collect a debit route and sell. Good way to get back in the groove bro.

I'm not really sure what the purpose of your response was, other than to attempt to humiliate someone who's IS trying to make it in the insurance business.

I see apparently I committed the cardinal sin by asking for help. Please forgive me. I suppose I deserve a brief lecture on how I'll never make it in this business.

I know this was an important thing for you to convey to me, as it had nothing whatsoever to do with what I asked you, and so I thank you for humbling me.

Ebay and Craigslist, you say? I couldn't ask for more specific sources. I would NEVER have thought to go there on my own. Coming to a place where insurance professionals meet for this advice was, I see, misplaced. Again, forgive my idiocy.

And incidentally, when I sold back in 2000 for Humana, selling the Medicare Plus Choice HMO, I put NO money whatsoever into it. I was hired by Humana to sell, and I did. I received my leads from the office in the morning, and sold them during the day. I'm not sure what or how you sell, but I never did have to put money into it. The test I took for my Group 1 licence was paid for by the company I worked for previously, so I didn't pay for that. And because I passed my test and got my license, I was able to work for Humana.

So you see, I never had to put money into it before. This is the first time. And once I go back to work with Humana or one of the other Providers here, I'll not put any more into it. Aside from my gas, that is.

Thanks for the heads up. What is a "home service"?

Home Service is an old division of insurance that collects premiums at the customer's home, or place of business. Products are usually final expense. This is typically referred to as debits. I got started this way.

sorry you get so many negitive responses, I also look for help and advice on this forum and it is sad that they feel they have to give such negitive advice, maybe they are having a bad day or life.... hang in there.... Money is tight for all of us.

I'm sorry but there's a difference between negativity and truth especially when that truth can help save him from financial ruin.

The truth in this case if if you don't have $95 to your name your odds of getting off the ground are near zero. I'd sit this one out, get a regular job and come back to insurance at a later time.

it sooooooo sad but true. But over a period of a few weeks you will see which person to simply go past without reading and which ones to save. Don't give up. There is a lot of geat information here. It is amusing though how easily you can anticipate the next response of certain people by the majority of their sarcastic and hostile previous responses.

Just watch.

I'm sorry it hasn't gone well. And while I'm not looking to add to your problems, my best guess is that the course you are now blocked out of not only prepares you to take the exam but completing that course (or one similarly authorized by your state) is a pre-requisite of your authorization to take the state exam.

I could be wrong but that is how it has worked in the two states I've lived in and held licenses.

If it were me, I'd call the online course firm and see if they have any way to accomodate you. Good luck.
