Obama Urges Insurers to Keep Premiums Flat for 2015....

The additional money will come into play, likely in the third year of the 3R's, which would be 2017, long after any relevant elections.
My gripe is that this additional money could be significant, and should be authorized by Congress, not by Presidential fiat.
It is starting to look like no insurance company is too big to fail, which bodes badly for now and future generations.

kgmom,

They all very clearly say "proposed rates", not "approved". I'd bet an adult beverage what is filed and what is official wont be the same.

Yes, it's preliminary numbers. No, they're not sure HHS/DOI/DFS/CMS/BHO won't mess with the rates. Take it with a grain of salt.

LOok Guys,

When the Blues and others signed on to do this deal they did so with a THREE YEAR VISION. N'uff said!

Obama administration is determined to avoid nasty premium surprises before the 2014 mid-term November elections. A waiver of the 2015 mandate for large employers to have official ObamaCare plans is in the works too. Having millions of people receive notices of insurance termination, or 20%-80% increases would make the Democrats sure losers.

I doubt it makes much difference if rate increases are revealed before the elections or not. Enough people have already been negatively impacted by this piece of crap that the unfavorable numbers run close to 90%.

That's right. This piece of crap will be getting repealed VERY soon.;)

Obama's "Urging" fell on deaf ears. So..HealthCare.flub officials have decided to not post 2015 premiums to the website until after the November 4th mid-term elections.

But, many insurers are not only customer-friendly, but unlike HHS, are law-abiding as well. They are sending out 2015 premium letters to their customers as we speak.

This is both an embarrassment to our country and a disgrace.

I'm a lifelong Democrat but am completely disgusted with Obama and his minions, they have done untold harm over healthcare reform.

The worst part about all of this is that it will backfire on them and there could easily be a change in leadership in both the House and Senate strictly because of the backlash over withholding rates until after the election-it isn't exactly like you can't find out and if I was running as a Republican for any office in November I would plaster the rate increases in my state all over the media.

People by and large vote with their pocketbooks and the perception will be that premiums will be going way up for everyone even though many will be getting subsidies and actually paying less.

If Obama had kept his word about 'if you like your plan, keep it' none of this would be happening and would have cost less than the way it's being done-the new plans would have essentially been a high risk pool that the government could underwrite at probably a lower cost than all of the subsidies AND the rebates to the insurance companies for the higher that expected claims.

Just a mess, period.

Well, we called it about a year ago when the OEP delay was first announced. Not surprised in the slightest.

I had 2 carriers provide me with q115 rates, and 2 more show them but not give them over ("they're not ready for distribution"). The other carriers pretend they don't have them yet, they don't want to mention that they were told not to give them out until after elections. Clients received renewals and rates, so that's a pretty shaky lie.

We don't need politics getting in the way of evaluating out clients' options for renewal, cutting our window down from ~45 days (from 90-day notice to OEP) to under 2 weeks. Absolutely no other reason for the delay other than for the Dem's to save face at election time.

thought so...................smdh

I rarely talk politics because it really has no place on this forum but I've said that before on this forum and have also said I didn't vote for Obama either time-I voted for Romney in 2012 because of Obama's lying about healthcare reform and his lack of leadership.

I am exactly the kind of Democrat those of you on the other side should look to encourage by finding common ground rather than making sarcastic comments, maybe we would wind up with a government that actually works rather than the political mess we usually have.
