Obamacare: Is the Repeal for Real?

So your answer is do nothing about pre-x. Woman with a pre-x condition, will have to lose everything she owns and go on welfare, to get coverage. That is what the press will report. Correct me if i am wrong.

there are those that beleive the media and those that beleive the truth..... i choose truth..... Texas has a risk pool, have since 1993 or so... the reason some who can dont get it is 2 simple things, 1) dont want to... 2) more than they want to spend. ACA will wind up costing more than our Texas risk pool, thats fact.

Correct. Maryland has had MHIP as long as I can remember - affordable GI coverage and you can even choose the "buy down" provision, pay a bit more and get immediate coverage.

So that would mean MD's insured rate is in the 90% area? Hardly.

If you really want to have no pre-ex limits on anything, how do you think healthy people will feel about having their premiums double or more just to accommodate your wishes?

Do you have any idea what happened when the govt decided it would be a good idea for everyone to have a mortgage?

Think about it.

This is the reason for all of our problems. Period.

If there was no Barney Frank pushing liberal mortgages requirements, we wouldn't have had the housing crash, the stock crash, the bad economy, which brought us O, which brought us PPACA, which will bring us????

No, from a standpoint of the consumer, what's in the bill is good. From the standpoint of a taxpayer, it's unsustainable. Reversing the bill is both good to the average citizen and bad for them. I'm just saying that politically, getting Mitt elected, a Rep Senate, and a Rep House will be the only way to repeal the law - and it must be done this Nov.

Any later than that, and it will be around forever.

What part of risk pools do you not understand?

I'm with you 100%. Keep the PCIP and the rest goes in the garbage.

My problem with PCIP is its add backwards. Say I haven't had coverage for 5 years since I left my last job, I have a Pre-x condition and I know I need surgery and I can jump right on PCIP. Now if I am responsible and keep COBRA and then financially I need to drop coverage I now need to go 6 months without coverage.

There is nothing wrong with Pre-x limiting coverage for a period of time if you have had a break in coverage over a period defined by the legislature. In Maine we are GI but Pre-x allows a carrier to not cover you for a 1 year period if you have a break in coverage over 90 days.
