Ohio Licensing Question

Okay, somthing else that jsut came to mind that I have not been able to get a clear answer on from the Ohio Department of Insurance. When you apply for your Ohio Insurance License, you apparently need a sponsoring agency? Do you have to have a sponsoring agency, or can you leave that part blank? I am going to be taking the classes and exams soon, and do not have an offer from an agency yet. The lady I talked to at the ODI, actually said to list anyone, that it didn't matter, but fromo what I understand, that company's name will appear on my license.

To me, if I list just anyone, it would seem like falsifying my license. I mean if another agency see's it that I want to work for, wouldn't they think I had some ties to the agency on my license? And how hard is it to change the license after you have it to lis the new agency name?

Gosh. It's been so long, I don't know. I just looked at my license and it does not list any particular company. Maybe that information is just for the DOI's records.

I didn't have any sponsoring agency when I took my test, left it blank and there was no problem.

Super. Now...start interviewing with some large captive companies, or possibly some large local agencies.

You'll need solid training.

In MD you don't need a sponsoring agency if you're going independent. Check OH.

I had to get an Ohio Non-Resident a while back.

Talk about easy, did it online, they e-mailed me the license number in about ten minutes. Total cost - $8.00.
