Ohio National Financial Services

Commissions are typically lower, underwriting is a bit sketchy, but if you were going to be largely with one company they do have the Virtus G UL I believe is what it's called and is supposed to be fantastic.

Anyone have any info or experience with these guys? They sent me a recruitment package.

TIA.

Awesome company - great retirement plan as well. Usually top 3 pricing for term as well. One of the few companies left with a par WL. Works well with LEAP and COW. Top 15 carrier for financial strength. Can't go wrong by picking them up.
If you give them $64K in annual premium you can keep the good comp rates. Not hard to do if doing UL/WL.

They do not have Indexed products (IUL or FIA).
They do no have a 30 year term.

Wow, could you possibly have more incorrect information?

For a mutual, their commissions are fair, from what I've seen their underwriting is fair, and the product they are promoting right now is their V-Pro UL.

They are a typical mutual, they want standard or better cases, and they want to sell lots of permanent products. The difference is, they have good term rates, seem to have no preference for UL or WL, and their underwriting seems a little more broad than the large mutuals.

To the OP, are you in a GA or a PPGA state?

It appears that he's in California (based on the state flag he shows).

Ohio National is a great company to work with. My only complaint is that they don't have any DI products available in California.

Their weight tables and blood pressure are strict, that's an objective fact. As far as commissions, guess why the major direct marketers don't carry them.

I guess because 145% on Level 10 as a PGA isn't good enough?

Yeah, but the amount of premium required to get there is way too much work. ;)

Plus, if you were working as a direct marketer you'd need to produce at the level of an agency. Do they even let you appoint PPA anywhere in the United States? I've never looked into appointing an agent, kind of figured it useless since anyone with an insurance license and one case on the books can get a PGA contract with them. I guess the only thing I could add is potentially paying them more than ONL would start them out at, but that's probably a bad idea.

Really? I had someone about 15 lbs over select plus weight limit still get select plus. We also had to retest the urine due to blood present. Wasn't there the second time. Was supposed to retest twice, after the second they decided they were happy with the results. What'd you do to piss the underwriters off?

Too many posts to quote, but VolAgent hit all the points. I find their underwriting fair and fast if you use the APS Xpress.

You don't find them carried by IMOs because their conract and general philosophy are geared toward independent agents except for the states that still have career agencies.

On the height/weight, I had a female recently issued Preferred but should have been Select based on the build chart. I questioned it because I didn't want any after-issue surprises. The underwriter told me that with the point system they use, there were more than enough credit points given (family history, labs, etc) to justify the preferred rate. Her husband was issued Super Preferred. Both were issued 1 million, and the offer was made 11 business days after I uploaded the apps.
