Opening My Own Agency, HELP! (WA)

I have been working with an independent P&C agency in WA state for awhile and I see the opportunity to open my own shop. The current agency owner is asking for a non-compete, and I don't want to sign it. I have made the decision to go out on my own...

Now...I have contacts and am really not too concerned with sales and prospecting. I believe I will have plenty of quotes and new business to write. My issue is...who should I turn to for my initial E&O, are there any companies that will give me a direct appointment with no existing book, and which MGA's would be good to use. I have been researching and it seems like NIA, Insurance Noodle, and Superior Access are potential options.

So...any suggestions for the above and/or anything else I should keep in mind as I move forward?

Thanks in advance for all of your help! ;)

Hey, where in Washington state are you? I'd love to hear how you decided to open up your own office and why independent vs captive.

I've meet with all the big name companies but I really would like to know more about going independent. Thanks!!
