Hey everyone!
So I have been studying extensively for the P and C exam and I took it this morning. Unfortunately, I failed and it really ate at me. I was so confused because I studied and focused solely on the material. It's not that it's hard, but it is worded in a way that can throw you off track. I even knew I failed it and told the test monitor that I didn't believe I passed. He handed me my score card and said,"Well you already know the bad news." I left, but slowly got more and more upset. My family was so excited and were all wishing me luck and so was my boss and then I go in feeling confident and leave defeated. It is a horrible feeling and really upsetting. I rescheduled for this Saturday and I am busy studying the material. If anyone has any advice I would love to hear it. Has anyone taken it more than once? How was it? Did the test change at all the next time around?

First off, you're clearly a woman. No man would mope like that.

Second off...shut up...stop whining & keep at it until you pass.

Third...Most people fail a few times.

Fourth...You'll get 9 NO's for every 1 YES so you better get used to that feeling.

Fifth - The test is designed to trick you

Sixth - The test has nothing to do w/ real life.

Seventh - Stop being a vag & pass the test.

They re ask the same question with opposite answers. Review the test after your done mark the questions your not sure about. Passed first time and half way thru cic in less than 2 years fun stuff

I failed by two points on the casualty exam the first time and got it the second. Just don't think about it too hard. The answer you get the first time, is usually the right one. The last piece of advice I'll give you is to RELAX ... Good luck

First of all, don't listen to that sexist poster. It's just insulting and not helpful. Something that helped me was re reading the questions. My biggest struggle was reading the questions too quickly. They are meant to trick you, so reading it twice will help with comprehension. Also, if you don't know the answer to a question, immediately flag it and move on to the next one. That way you wont agonize over the question for too long, and you wont lose your confidence. Then, go back and make your most educated guess. Good luck!

I'm thinking (hoping) this was a joke response. If not;

1st of all, wow! Really? Sir be cool & step away from the pc for a bit.

2nd, "most" people don't fail it a "few times", most people pass it the first time & should. I did, ( & that was before they had the two week class program) 6 out of 7 people on my staff did. If you have to take it 3 times, then there is a problem.

To the op, just resched asap study some more & you will be fine.

I took it again today and did better but still didn't pass. I finished the classes online a few days ago and have only been learning insurance for almost a week. I will admit that I do not know the text as well as I should obviously. I signed up for the next available which is a week away so I am going to be studying and get it down. I understand a majority of it, but the bits and pieces I don't are really affecting my score. I will keep at it and take is as many times as needed until passing. It is a horrible feeling not to pass and makes you feel worthless.

Again the tests are designed to trick you & they're entirely irrelevant to the real world. Nobody cares how many times you fail it & it's in no way an indicator of your success. Some people are just bad at tests.

I was fresh out of college & in a routine of studying hard so it worked out. I passed my first try with an 88. My partner in business failed 3x and he's got a better degree from a better college.

Again (at least when I took the test..) most people did NOT pass the first time.

The tricks to passing:

- Read the question, then read all of the answers. Don't pick the first 'right' answer. A lot of times, by reading all the answers, you'll figure out you misread the question. There is also the infamous 'all the above' selection, so the first right answer was only partly correct.

- If in doubt, go with your gut. Then leave it alone. You'll be right most of the time and second guessing doesn't improve your odds of being right.

- Its amazing how many times they ask the same question different ways. Be consistent in your answers.

- If still in doubt of which answer to pick, chose the one that best protects the client.

- If all else fails, the answer is 'C'.
