P&C Carriers For New Insurance Agency

How can I signup with p&c carrier or with any alliance of carriers. I am a brand new agency. I have an experience as an agent. I do not want any volume restriction. I am in Illinois. Also looking for limousine and taxi cab carrier.
:1confused:

No experience in the business what makes alliance companies want you in there team?

What are you going to bring to the table?
What work have you done before...for hire insurance is a very nitch market.

Do a search and find out. I mean this on this forum, another insurance forum, and google in general. I'm sure *someone* who is on the internet has had the same question as you.

And I'm sorry, I know it isn't your fault but tons of people ask these exact same things. If you have specific questions then we can answer but your question is very much like "how can I sell insurance?"

Google some things and come back with specific questions. Or do a search here, where these things have been talked about in LENGTHY detail. You'll probably find information on the carriers as well that you are interested in, and probably some information on life insurance as well if you ever thought about selling it.

Again, I'm not trying to be a dick but you need to know how to do some searches and do some due diligence.

AgencyEquity has a listing of over 400 carriers and we also provide direct URLs to a carriers appointment page. You can search these carrier by keyword as well. Having said that, I completely agree with the responses that point out it's not easy to get an appointment if you don't have experience. You really need to get experience, otherwise you will struggle. Your best bet is to start of as a producer of an independent agency or get an appointment direct writer. I have listings for both of these, however if you do search for carriers, I would recommend choosing "direct writer" as most of these direct writers will train you and that is one way to get experience.

More self promotion, this is such an easy answer, call a local agent in your area, I would have to imagine you have some IA agent friends and get the reps's name and number from them, You dont have to go to AE's website for this.

Most carrier website have a link, how to become an agent, use it.:skeptical::SLEEP::goofy:

I started working on a IA in July of 2011. I got Progressive right away but it took me a few months to get my next company. I now have my 3rd company and I am in the appointment process of getting my fourth.

I basically put together a detailed business plan (keep it under 3 pages so they will read it) and started cold calling the companies that I wanted. My persistency impressed some and annoyed a few others.

Treat companies like you would a prospect and sell yourself.

I have been turned down by about 25+ companies but I have 4 that said yes. :)

Add to this getting third party endorsement letters and client testimonials of how great you are. When others say how awesome you are, people will listen.
