P&C Leads

Just a quick question. I primarily stick to the Commercial P&C arena, and when is comes to leads, what has been your expeeriences?

I am paying a fair monthly amount for an 'unlimited' (LOL) lead volume in my state. Since the economy flushed, my volume is down from 100+/mth to under 50... Of course the pricing hasn't changed!!

I am thinking about doing a start up internet lead site, what would you think real time exclusive leads should cost?

Also any thoughts on Personal Leads? I and a friend are debating. I say that chasing personal leads is a waste of time for very little return, and finding agents to purchase/use the personal lines leads is just as much of a hassle. So my thoughts are stay commercial only. However my friend is saying that adding personal lines just adds to the site traffic and bottom line sales for little extra effort...

We conceptualize being able to sell leads by lead type (BOP, GL, CA, WC, PL, etc) and either state or three digit zip. Since we are starting from scratch, the system would just send out the single lead to only 1 agent, and have an auto responder to the client giving them the agent's info.

What do you all think?

If I were into P&C, I'd have a ton of business cards and talk to people everywhere I go. I'd hand them my card and tell them my name. Let them know that you make a living saving people money on their car/homeowners insurance. Tell them the economy is tough and there's no need to be spending out extra money on plans from the more expensive carriers. Let them know that maybe their agent isn't representing the best carriers and that you can easily check to see if they qualify for a lower insurance premium. I think it could work. Get out and talk to the people. Place door hanger bags on doors with your info in them. Definitely have a website that they can go and visit. Urge them to contact you. Show some sample savings you've gotten customers. Good luck!!!:)
