P&C - Renewal Commission Split

I want to consult with my fellow P&C agents about the renewal commission splits. I started to work at the agency I am in a year ago. I was hired to be ab account manager and with the ability to sell on a side and earn commissions. I was given 50% split on new business and 20% split on renewals. My book have grown considerably (about 25K in comm) and now it takes 30% of my time servicing it. I want to approach my boss and ask him to split new business and commissions 50/50. I have recently invested over 8K into advertising and marketing and expect to double my book next year. I think it will be fair to split if agency does literally nothing for this book. Would you do that? If they say no what would the exit strategy be.

Who pays for the agency's overhead? It seems to me, the agency is paying you a salary, and 30% of that time you are serving your book. It really depends on how much you are getting paid, and where are you getting your clients and who is paying for your leads.
