Pelosi: House Lacks Votes to OK Senate Health Bill

Agreed - not over but greatly delayed. Remember that any changes on the House's end require a new Senate vote but now the Repubs can put the filabuster card. It means they have to court at least one Senate Repub and get them to defect.

On top of that, the whole process is going to slow down. There is no more rush - no deadline that needs to be met.

It's not over.

Stand by for water downed bill with GI and no mandate and CLR.

They will have to pivot over to jobs and the economy for a couple months. The eocnomy has been neglected too long and public interest is gone and both parties need to prepare to greet the voters. They will putter with a scaled down version and then string it out until the elections and after. Obama has missed the window for a megabill, major reform. It is incrementalism here on out and that will never be over as long as there is an republic. Even when we are single payer there will be reforms and amendments every year.

"THE BILL" ,though, as most of us have come to know its various permutations as an expression of what reid-pelosi-obama wanted is dead. Those who still have a need to be right about "the bill" passing can continue to call plans c,d, e, f, or g "the bill" but it does not work for me anymore. Obamacare did not pass last year and it is not going to pass this year. His vision of healthcare will come but only through incrementalism.

We have to press the reset button at some point just as Congress is strugging to do right now. Maybe the new bill will pass but this one didnt. No argument about a new one passing. There will be plenty.

Not to try and hijack this tread but the better news is the Supreme Court stricking down campaign finance rules.

Now we'll have "Senator Smith, brought to your by Walmart." General Electric doesn't like you as the next presidential canditate? Not a problem - let's spend 500 million on negative ads.

Give it 10 years and the White House will have a McDonalds logo on it: "President Brown's State of the Union Tonight brought to you by the new Angus Burger."

I need to read more about the court decision before forming an opinion but I did notice that SEIU is upset about it so I assume that parts of it are good. They have been having a picnic of late where corporations and independant political groups have been restricted but unions are either exempt from some provisions or have learned to play the loophopes via actions of their members which are really actions of the unions. I dont want a White House that is owned by Walmart but I don't want one that is owned by SEIU either, or should I say, "another one."
