Pharma Just Sat Obama Down

White House Confirms: Deal With Big Pharma Bars Price Negotiations

Pharma: You either do what we say or we'll sink your bill
Obama: Ummm, ok

I guess Obama's finding out the hard way who REALLY runs the country. And it's not him, it's industry.

Welcome to the real world Mr. community organizer.

It's change...except for the pharma industry.

The other thing that is interesting/disgusting here is that everyone is trying to figure out what President Transparency agreed to in the backroom meeting with Pharma. Even Congress is trying to figure that out.

So in some ways Pharma ends out looking like they are getting tough but they relied upon an agreement with Obama who they thought was in charge of both the reform movement and the key players in his party. Now Congress and his own party are saying that they have no idea what Obama agreed to behind and closed doors and regardless of what they agreed to, Congress still gets to be the legislative branch in the end. So, Obama is saying to Congress, "I want you to submit a reform bill to me but dont step on any of deals I have already made which you dont know about."

So much for transparency and the elimination of backroom deals. What a mess. Maybe I have some facts wrong here. Fine, let Obama work it out with his own party in Congress, they are trying to figure it out too.

If enough people actually read HR3200 they will clearly see that POTUS/TOTUS, Princess Nancy and Prince Harry aren't telling the truth on a lot of things.

They say one thing, but that does not agree with what is in the bill.

At this rate, all of them may be out of a job in the next 4 years which is fine with me.

Welcome internet complete with blogging, social networking and youtube where things can go viral literally in a day and reach millions of people.

And we see why Obama wanted this passed before anyone got a chance to pick it apart since now key sections of the bill have gone viral and people are aware just how harmful it will be.

Obama could very well go 4 out out. Heavy on promises - hasn't delivered on one yet.

The transparency he promised? Like making the White House logs inaccessible and secret talks with Pharma? Yep...it's change alright.

This article seems to state Pharma is helping Obama.

Obama's health care plan helped by drug industry - Yahoo! News

Pharma is helping Obama but they may or may not cut and run so it is also true that a storm is brewing.

Basically, Pharma met separately with Obama and agreed to discount drugs for Part D donut holers and others as a contribution to holding down health costs. However, the deal was that Pharma was basically buying future protection from a socialist government that was threatening to regulate them even more if they did not ante up, which they did. Now Congress is saying Obama may have cut a deal with Pharma but Congress didnt, and Congress reserves the right to regulate them even more and drive prices down even more by requiring bids and pools etc. Pharma is saying: "WTF is this. We gave our pound of flesh now you zambonis want more but Obama promised us that would be it." Congress is saying: "Yeh well, that's interesting but we are not bound by what Barry says and who knows what you guys talked about behind closed doors anyway." Plus Pharma expected to be treated publicly as a team player and part of the solution for their voluntary contributions to health reform. Instead, Pelosi is slapping their face left and right and telling the public what a bunch of crooks they are along with insurance carriers.

Thus, Pharma is supporting Obama today, but the lovefest will blow wide open if Obama can't enforce his part of the deal, which he can't. We have separation of powers and all those constitution things Obama never thinks about (his being a constititional law professor notwithstanding).

Change you can believe in.

Hmmm, pretty big lack of understanding going on....

Most big pharma companies give away a lot of drugs to those who can't afford to fill their prescriptions. This helps those who are uninsured get at least some access to the latest, greatest drugs. In fact, I don't think there is a big pharma company (and many smaller ones) that doesn't have a program to help people out who can't pay for the more expensive treatments.

Now, when there is a coverage mandate on the table, Pharma is looking at it like they can drop the giveaways that cost them billions. In turn, they can redirect that money to other areas (i.e., donut hole). Now, congress is saying that hey, you can do more.... Unfortunately, this isn't really where congress belongs, unless they declare the pharma industry a monopoly, which it simply isn't.

Oh well, who needs the support when you can just legislate it.

Dan

You can say that again! Obama has it in his mind the Constitution and Bill of Rights do not pertain to him.
