Which company currently has the best rate for a Plan F for a June 1, 2010 effective date.

No one can answer that question until all companies have filed and had their new rates approved.

Right now MOO does or will when the rates are approved. Plan F starts at $110.84 and Plan N starts at 82.58.

Why would you sell a Plan F?

Tisk, tisk Frank. We've had this discussion before about Georgia. Of the carriers that offer your favorite (Plan D) here, they just aren't competitive with the rates of UoO on Plan F.

As well as Kansas. There is rarely a plan D or G that is more than 1-1.5x the part B ded from the cheapest Plan F. We get spoiled in MO where the D/G books are usually 2-3 times the $155 ded cheaper than the C/F books.

I contribute this to the MO GI law making the C/F books riskier for the companies (those are the most common plans held by beneficiaries) so a company in MO will be exposed to more GI cases when offering a C or F.

I know, I know, but if you LOOK again I was not talking about Plan D. I mentioned MOO's proposed rates for Plan N.

Let's look at some real numbers. In zip codes 300-303, 308-309, 311, 313-314, 399.

For a 70 year old female, non tobacco Plan F is $146.78. Plan N is 109.35. The difference in cost is $37.43 per month or $449.16 per year. Deduct the $155 Part B Deductible and the net savings is $294.16 per year.

Are you telling me that seniors in GA do not consider a savings of $300 a year enough money to "mess with"? If not, they sure are different than the ones I talk to in MO.

So, tisk, tisk back at ya.

Forgive me kind sir, I jumped the gun and ASSumed you were talking about Plan D. I believe the scenario you've outlined will sell all day long.

And I receive your tisk, tisk.:goofy:

I'm laughing as I read that. I also "assumed" you thought I was talking about Plan D so I couldn't resist.

Plan N has become my "new" Plan D. I'm looking forward to writing a lot of N's in the near future.

I appreciate the response and I was not aware of the Plan N rates, I dont do much med supp business in GA, but I need too write a policy for an annuity client, so it sounds like N is the plan, is that rate firm yet?

The rates are "firm", they just haven't been approved and released by the GA DOI. It is very seldom that a state's DOI doesn't approve the filed rates. Companies "do their homework" before filing them.

As soon as the DOI releases them you will be good to go. I guess it could happen any time.
