Policies Closing, Commission %, Noob Questions

So I've been doing some research throughout the forum before making a noobie question regarding being new into the industry.

Quick review of my current situation: I was "training" for the past 3-4 months. I am getting into a new contract agreement with a salary and commission. I am an associate agent for a big direct carrier (however do have a broker we use if we can't write under that). Also I`m pretty young, as in I still have full time college coming up in the fall 15-18 credit hours.

I've boiled down to some main ones I'd like general opinions on

1) How many policies should I close a week (personal lines)
2) How much commission % should I be getting in avg?

I know this is a long winded but if anyone can enlightenment I would appreciate it

You should close as many policies as it takes to make a comfortable paycheck.
And your average commission percentage should vary depending on what product you are selling.

This is an almost impossible question to answer.
Since you are getting a salary, I assume this is more of a CSR style position rather than a producer? CSR's can sell, but they are distracted with a lot of day to day tasks, which impacts production. On the other hand, producers are compensated to produce.

I like to see producers doing 10 policies a week on personal lines. Decent production, not overwhelming though. CSR's won't do this much week in and week out though.

Your commission will vary depending on the product and what portion is paid in salary. No easy answer to that.

The way I understand it is that it is a producer position but I also have to service my clients and current ones already when it requires I do so.

The way the salary, to my best of knowledge works is, it decreases throughout the year until it ranches 0. Then I'm on my own 100% pure commission.
