Will your premium increase if you use your SUM coverage for an accident youre not at fault?

Say you get into a bad accident and it requires more than the other drivers 25/50k coverage and you have to use your own.

Is this the same rate increase as an at fault payout?

whats a SUM coverage?

Usually they cant surcharge you unless its an at fault accident

supplemental uninsured motorist, basically kicks in if at fault driver has 25/50 and you are injured for 40k in injuries, your SUM will pay 15 if you claim it.

Maybe SUM is a ny state thing?

I'm guessing that you are talking about uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage. I have worked for SF, farmers, and Allstate at this point and none of them surcharge of rate based on that..

If you are an agent, call your underwriting department and double check.

Hello,

Thats twice you have posted you worked for SF, allstate and farmers, can you hold a job? LOL

Well, in California, it would be a non-rated claim. Can't speak to states that call the coverage with a weird name :)

I'm guessing this is underinsured motorist coverage.
