I already a professional email address.

What I am considering it getting another domain name, since I'm concerned my emails are going to spam folders because of 1) Norvax auto responders 2) My own email campaigns....

I don't plan on setting the domain up for a website, simply for email use.....what is everyone's thoughts on that?

Norvax spam from auto-responders, ironically, is an issue I have recently raised with them. I have noticed an increase in emails not being accepted for "spam" reasons. These are the Norvax auto-responder emails. Yet, if I send a separate email myself, it will often go through.

In fairness, this is happening less than 1% of the time, but it has increased. Embarqmail is one that always seems to come back.

There was a problem with Yahoo (that was a pain) but it has been corrected. I guess I will keep monitoring this situation.

how can using a yahoo address be bad? Well aside from everyone knowing it's a free email acct that is. Are they sent to people spam files easier or something?

Spam blacklisting is almost always done against an IP address, not against a domain name. You need to find out if the server that sends your email is blacklisted, and if so, you need to clear this up.

Unfortunately, this means if you are on a shared server, you could be blacklisted for an entirely different domain than yours. Hosting companies usually are on top of this and get this resolved pretty quick, but it doesn't hurt to look.

How to check:
There are many sites that will tell you if you are blacklisted. For instance, you can go to MX Lookup Tool - Check your DNS MX Records online - MxToolbox and put in your domain name, it will look up your server, then you can click to see if you are blacklisted.

You will always be blacklisted somewhere, just happens that way. Some of the lists are of the type that you are blacklisted unless you get approved. Most of these are not used in any reliable spam filter, so don't panic if you see you are on a list somewhere. Try to find out if that list matters.
