I guess it could have been worse, they could have used a monkey.

Where do you live? Progressive averages about $5500 per power unit here in Northern California and I have several markets that are 40-50% less.

Progressive is an interesting company... their rates suck but their retention is pretty good because they make it very easy to do business with them as opposed to most non standard companies. I bought a small agency 18 months ago that had a good sized ($750K premium) progressive book... the retention is in the high 80's and the accounts that do cancel (usually NSF) rush right in to get reinstated as soon as they have the money. These are not preferred clients but they stick around and have been profitable.
