Pursuing a New Career Path

I am looking to make a career change into insurance and financial services. However, I will need to phase out of my present position in a gradual manner. Is it possible to start in insurance and financial services on a part time basis (transitioning into full time at a later date)? If this is possible, what companies would be good to consider for part time opportunities?

It is possible but hard. Very few are successful this way although it can be done. Who you would do this with would depend upon when you are available to work insurance and what market you want to work. Would it be evenings, certain weekdays, weekends, etc. and what market are you most interested in?

Product line is also important. That could fall under the category of "Market", but I am doing my best to be specific and a more positive poster on this venue. Hopefully this helps.

Thank you for the reply. As far as the markets I am most interested in, I am open to most markets but have a strong interest in those products that have a financial component. I believe life insurance is the strongest tract for this. But I am also open to other types of product lines. The geographical area I would be focusing on would be the Los Angeles County area. And I would be available evenings & weekends.

Are you looking for a specific company that would take you on or looking to go the purely independent route? What's your current industry? Why the interest in insurance and fiancial services? Just and FYI from my own humble opinion, it's probably the toughest of all possible routes in this industry.

I am open to either independent or with a company. My current position is in ministry, but I have 20+ years in business. I also have a Business/Marketing degree. I have always had an interest in financial services…probably from my days working for a financial publication. I appreciate your opinion regarding financial services being the toughest possible route. I would definitely like to know more. Is there a more practical route to take when entering this industry?
