what happens when someone who is required to carry an sr22 bond moves to a different state?

I had to turn a prospect away this week. they lived out west but still needed a bond in my state.
problem: I can't write policies for out of state residents.

I also lost a customer last year because they moved. the company gave them 30 days and then canceled the policy.

I was wondering... what are people supposed to do in this situation? companies won't write bonds for out of state residents (at least my companies won't anyways). so how can someone live in one state but keep a bond active in another?

In Oregon, if I have a current client that needs the SR22 for Oregon and lives here, that is easy. If the client moves to a different state, Oregon DMV still will require proof of this SR22 to maintain a current license status with Oregon, or the license will get suspended.

If Oregon suspends the license, they issue a notice to the "database" that says the license in Oregon in suspended and other states review this info and then suspend the license in their state. Like WA DMW would not allow a current WA license until OR filed a release saying everything in OR was satisfied.

If my client moved to WA I would write them a policy with the residence in WA and use a carrier that did filings in OR as well.

If I was not appointed in the state the client moved to, I would refer the client off to some one who was appointed in target state. The client just needs to make sure and get coverage with a carrier that will do an SR22 in the state requiring it.
