Quote/Proposals

What do you use to build quote/proposals? I am particularly interested in hearing form those that work in the Life and Health spaces.

Do you use a tool? Do you just send an email? Templates? What does everyone use?

To broad of a question.

In my case, it is usually just a quote over the phone maybe followed by an email of the company Illustration. If it is a SIWL and for some reason, I feel that I may be in competition, I may send the FEXQuote and explain why I chose X company over Y or Z company.

Really depends on how complicated the case is. Simple Term, GUL, or SIWL, not too many reasons other than CYA to get to deep into an illustration.

I used to spend days or at least hours developing illustrations or boiling down Illustrations into one-pagers. Wish I had all of that time back. If a F2F meeting I may have an illustration to show the different nuances but the magic happens on my legal pad or the back of my quote sheet.

If you're selling group health or ancillary, it is my opinion that a knowledgeable GA is well worth their salt. They will do the quoting and explaining to you on both the health and ancillary lines. You want several health GA's because they all do not use the same carriers and TPA's. So if you use Rogers Benefit as one outlet, find another that has other carriers. On the ancillary lines, find someone that works with more than a few carriers. Depending on your state of residence, I may be able to help or refer you to someone. I saw that CSG was mentioned on the Medicare side; they are the go-to company. However, there again, if you do not want to invest in their technology, a solid IMO can be extremely helfpfull there too. Personally, I do not like to provide illustrations online or over the phone; a face to face is the answer in almost all cases. Otherwise, you are nothing but a quote engine with no value add...
