I'm a newly appointed agent with an independent agency in Texas, and I had a quick question regarding umbrella insurance. For auto, does the limit of liability have to at least 500,000? A company we're appointed with only offers up to 100,000/300,000.

It is company specific. Many insurers require $250K/$500K and give discounts at $500K/$500K. A personal umbrella insurers allow for $100K/$300K in certain rare situations.

Keep in mind in addition, that the FSR may have to be of a certain caliber and be admitted.

Gotcha. The only carrier we have that can write umbrella is USLI. I may check with them to see what their requirements are.
