Required to Join the Exchanges

Also ask them if the employee only has affordable health coverage through a group plan, can the spouse and kids be spun off onto the exchange and get subsidies if lower income

Man, isn't this going to be so much fun?

I thought if you have access to group thru your spouse, you are not eligible for the subsidy. I think the subsidy will be harder to get than most realize, thus disappointing a lot of people.

Still to be determined. NAHU says spouse may be able to get subsidies on the exchange, but kids will not. ER only has to make EE cost "affordable" at 9.5% of income. 1/3 or my biz comes from rolling spouse and kids off the group plan now. I'm just hoping that doesn't go away. I asked Dave to ask his CA guru. More info from different sources.....the better. We need to triangulate this POS.

Harder to get subsidies? have you checked the food stamps or disability rolls lately. It's not the dem way.

I was thinking it would be harder based on what I had heard (no subsidy if you can get on group through spouse). That's why I mentioned that.

I know free money is closing out of washington.
Assurance wireless, $30 for and unlimited plan
Food stamps enrollment are growing
Etc...

Personal observation- there is a place in my town that gives food out from the NC food bank, and amazingly enough there are nicer cars in the parking lot waiting to get did than the car I drive...make me sick.

Obummer, Nancy and Harry say that the exchanges are a good thing. Why wouldn't a person want to enroll there?

The only people who would avoid the exchange is a traitor and a coward. Probably a commie also.

So I told my pastor he could maybe go on Medicaid. He said no thanks, he might not have much but it's a fair price.

I asked this today and will let you know when I get an answer.

As to income/subsidy restrictions, I got the answer from CA HBEX this morning.

Anyone may purchase any exchange plan level and will receive a subsidy (if qualified) based on the "second lowest cost Silver plan". They intent to include 'strong language' so that people will understand that going for a Platinum plan at lower income may not be in that person's best interest.

John Goodman gave us his prediction:

Here is my prediction: aside from two states that already have exchanges (Massachusetts and Utah), only one other state (Maryland) will make the deadline. Maybe Colorado and California will make it if they are lucky. But that's it. No other state is going to have operational exchanges on time.
In fact, half the states aren't even planning to set up exchanges. That responsibility will then fall to the federal government. But no money has been budgeted to fund such a large federal operation. The full implementation of ObamaCare could actually take years. In the meantime, let taxpayers keep more of their income to meet their own needs.
