Although you can request phone numbers, SalesGenie and the others are primarily mailing list vendors. Of course, DNC is not applicable for mailings. If someone responds to your mailing, that automatically means the DNC does not apply since they have now initiated the contact. You would then be free to call them all you want.

SalesGenie does not provide "leads". They provide "lists".

SalesGenie would disagree. They call them leads.

SalesGenie is the way to go and their leads are run through the DNC. In order to use the service you have to register for a san # and submit your marketing material. Cold Call Scripts, Mailers etc. I use it every month. Go Leads purchases their list from other companies. SalesGenie gets it from their main company infousa.com.

BTW we do scrub every list for DNC if you will be calling it. You will need your SAN # at time of order for this. If you don't already have a SAN you can get 5 area codes free for a year when you sign up. Many think SAN cost money and or it takes time to get set up, but it is in fact FREE and takes 5-10 minutes!

Data compilation only starts at the public sources. Compilers also gather records from private sources by buying them or farming systems with software programs. Then they overlay these files together to come up with certain filterable categories to create other target audiences. This data compilation business is bigger than any one industry could ever be because it services every industry there is. The compiling agencies seek out reputable firms such as info usa, (which owns 10-15 other companies-salesgenie just being one arm), sales prospects (dot) com, Best Rate Referrals...etc... the list goes on and on. You want to ask any data rep how often they update their file. Most of the online companies like infousa all update their main file quarterly. The smaller houses such as myself pay extra to update every month. I do this because I work with a lot of smaller companies and single agents. The need for your list to be more accurate than a company getting 100k names is very very important as you folks are usually getting less names per order and those few names need to convert.

Ultimately all the data comes from the same compilers. The reseller you use is just a matter of choice. Just choose yours based on product availability, knowledge, experience, reliability, and accuracy. When you find a good data rep at a legitimate company make friends with him and let him understand your business model. The more you help him understand you the more he can help you make money and get your residual marketing budget. We will always take care of our clients to gain residual income (just like insurance agents). Trust me I live for it.
