Scaring Them To Tell The Truth

I always love/hate when someone tells me that they are the driver for 2 or 3 vehicles, birthday is coming up, has no insurance, and seems to be only worried about what the down payment is.

We have a system that we set in place where if we start a quote with a bum customer that does the down payment BS to get tags, it will pop up an "alert" box. I usually still quote them and give them one payment option, in full, and if it's happened multiple times, I'll do it with the most expensive insurer. It's always fun to see them act surprised, and try to play victim like their car broke down, or whatever lame excuse they have. It has been informally called the "Do Not Quote" (DNQ) list.

Sorry for the rant, just sick of going above and beyond to cater policies that improve coverages while reducing price and then getting screwed over because all the person wanted was tags.

Just another one, I also had a guy just today get mad at me because his policy is being cancelled because he lied to me about underwriting questions. I asked if there was anybody else in the house and he said no. Well, MVR and CLUE, and a little investigation by the underwriting team afterwards tells me that his son has multiple DUIs, 5 or so driving on suspended license violations, and after a quick Google search, multiple domestic violence charges and a bit of prison time thrown in there. I think that'd be pretty important to mention, especially when I specifically asked how many adults were int he house. I had already asked for an underwriting favor to get them to write it as if he had insurance (he was a day late).

So not only did I waste my underwriting favor for the year already, but my underwriters are mad at me through my main company I deal with. Fking great.
