Selling cds as a broker

I remember hearing about how brokers can sell cds. Does anyone have experience or knowledge about this? Do you just need an insurance license. How to get set up to sell them? Not that I neccesarily want to sell them, but it could open discussions about cd's vs annuities and other products.

They're offered through brokerage houses so I'm guessing you'd need a securities license to sell them.
