Selling in an Rehab Center

Would you sell an FE policy in a rehab center?

I have a referral that called me over the weekend, and wanted me to meet with him tomorrow to write a policy on his mother, who is in a facility recuperating from a fall. I told him that I couldn't do it, but he didn't see the problem and they're willing to lie if necessary. I don't like to turn down $$, but I guess I'll ask the issuing company tomorrow if it's allowed.

There are a lot of agents that wouldn't think twice about lying with the clients permission, and I'm not judging them, but I've seen too much junk and worried about claims in the past. At this woman's age, anything can happen after a fall, regardless of whether she's released.

The situation you're referring to isn't an instant dis-qualifier from being able to legitimately obtain FE coverage.

This may sound simplistic, but if a client is interested in a product and can submit an application by honestly answering all of the questions asked on the application, there is no reason to not do it.

Is there something more nefarious afoot? What makes you think there is something about this which would constitute a breach of ethics?

There are companies that don't ask about skilled nursing on the app. They do ask about nursing facilities, or nursing homes, but there really is a difference. Find the appropriate one and sign her up. It isn't as if she is in the hospital on oxygen.
