Dems are going to try to vote the Senate bill out on to the floor today./tonght. It is not assured by any means that they have the votes but most likely it will happen (my view, most likely wrong). There are a few senators who are willing to vote it out on to the floor just to get on with it even though they plan to vote against it if it is not amended.

There is no way in hell now that Mr. Obama will sign a bill by the first of the year (or was that before August). Not to worry, he will just reframe it to say that the goal was to have a bill being voted on by the Senate.

The timing of this is against the dems now just as it was in August. Obama desparately wanted to ram a bill through in August before house members went back home for recess and got torn apart. Same situation now, the senate will be going home for their various breaks before the vote on the bill. That will all be fine and dandy unless they talk to anyone back home, then it all falls apart.

Might as well get on with it by voting it out on to the floor. Of course if they didnt have the votes for that, then that would have entertainment value so that could be okay too. Most likely it is going out for a vote though. You have pinko dems saying they will vote against putting it out for a vote because it does not provide for abortions. That will blow over though and they will realize that they can amend it back in next year if it passes. No commie is going to turn down a shot at taking over a sixth of the economy all in one shot.

Their cost projections assume that 250 billion is going to be cut (saved?) from Medicare. As I have stated many times, Mr. Obama will eventually end out doing hand to hand combat with the Blue Hair Brigade and they are going to run a bayonet right through him on this. If he likes to talking with our enemies as he said in the campaign, then he has some opportunities coming right up. You like town halls Mr. Obama? Set some more up to discuss this. Grandma is going to skewer you. Plus grandma's daughter is worried about herself now that you are cutting back on women's preventive health care. Oh wait, Mr. Obama, given your commitment to transparency and listening to the people (unlike George Bush) you weren't actually considering signing a bill where there have not been any public hearings on it are you???? No, that could not be possible given the fact that it is largest piece of legislation since the New Deal. (yes, FDR had some larger ones and the Supreme Court killed some of them too as it might with you, but I digress)

Gawd, this is going to be bloody and justifiably so. The senate is voting a bill out on to the floor- the details of which only Harry Reid knew about last week. This has been a complete and total backroom cloak and dagger process and it needs to be blown wide open to compensate for the lack of transparency.

Dear Senator Bayh,

Please vote against bringing this bill to the floor. Bringing it to the floor assures that it will pass. This bill is, in no way, good for Hoosiers (or anyone else for that matter).

This bill, like the House version, does not reform healthcare, it only takes over the insurance industry. Insurance rates are merely a reflection of the costs of healthcare. It is often stated that the companies are making exorbitant profits, but the profit margin is only 2.2% on average. My monthly premium for health insurance is $700 per month. If you eliminate this profit it will make my premiums go down by $14 a month. This is hardly making it more affordable. Then when you add in the cost of not excluding pre-existing conditions (which, no one would think was a good idea in home, auto , or life insurance), guaranteed issue, no lifetime caps, and limited deductible choices along with low maximum out of pocket expenses, there is no way this can drive down the cost of insurance.

Higher deductibles, no first dollar benefits and price transparency by the providers will do much more to contain the rising costs. Health insurance should be designed to pay the catastrophic expenses, not the maintenance costs. Imagine what our auto insurance rates would be like if we treated it the same way as health insurance is set up. Need an oil change? Send the bill to the insurance company. New tires? There is only a $35 copay and you're on your way. Engine blow a gasket? Just pay your $500 deductible and the insurance company will pay the rest. Instead of paying $360.00 every six months per car, we would be paying $3600, as well we should.

Again I ask you to please vote against even bringing this bill to the floor. It is bad legislation.

You ain't kidd'n.
I don't know. To me that 250 billion in medicare cuts ... and it is "cuts" not savings is significant. Unless your an old minted guy ... OMG ... blues hairs go'n gangsta.
As stated, how dumb is that bit about the mams getting pushed to age 50 ...? Stunningly stupid? The timing of it? Are they just "testing the waters" to see how much they can get away with? I suppose.
To me its ironic that a relatively small, although relevant part of reform, could snowball in terms of media coverage, into a huge obstacle for them getting their way ultimately which as discussed, to use Wintafresh's jargon, ad nauseam is to take over healthcare / insurance nationwide. They'll just keep ramming that gate legistlatively until it breaks or they are broken. Again, time is on our side as bits of information become more available to the stupid mamby pamby pandered public at large. We can only fight on through this while hoping that there are enough people in this country with a functioning brain stem to get involved and aware. Anybody's guess. There is, to me, tremendous public opposition or ignorance. Bizarre to behold.
