Ok I have to do a paper app for UHC in SC

I have received an email from Cigna stating there is SEP due to wild fires
South Carolina
Declaration information New
Declaration #701
State declaration: Wildfires
SEP incident dates: 03/01/2025 - 04/15/2025
This SEP declaration is effective: 03/01/2025 - 05/31/2025
Impacted counties for SEP purposes: All

But on the paper app for UHC there is not SEP disaster option on it

there is a SEP (SEP reason ) and a place to put explanation

Will it get kicked back if I just put wild fires?
or is there a difrent way to state it?

just writing "DST" would be fine, but if you wrote "DST - Wild Fires" to help clarify for the UW I'm sure they wouldn't mind.
Its their job to verify an SEP is eligible, They'll see it either way.

What election did your client miss?

I dont create the situation I just do the best for my clients

You know they are getting calls all day long from India waiting to move them

I don't actively look to do this, but if I have a client like this who has been on Humana for a long time with me and just found out that Humana droped her local facility

and she is very concerned about it, I am not going to let her take calls from India for the next 6 months hoping she does not move

I am sure you would do the same

The issue is, both you and the client are technically saying the client missed the AEP/OEP to make a change due to this event.

So the right thing to do would be to have the client call 800-Medicare to seek an SEP and how the dropped facility creates a hardship.

Ok so that is what you would do have the client go direct??
and what you still service their account for free too?

I am soo confused on why you all would feel this way
I mean CMS does not even hold any standard on this

There was literally a gun violence SEP in NY for 2 years at one point
it is literally a joke

You really think CMS thinks only people who missed an entire EP because there is gun violence are using this

Again I do not market using this, I do not look to use anything, I just don't want to lose anymore clients that go through issues and get picked off by the many calls they get

The only way I even use it if there is some change in plan, drug cov issue, CS issue, or Med supp premium no longer affordable

I literally do like 3 to 5 a year on this

Does UHC have that specific disaster listed in Jarvis? If they don't it won't go through, and I don't understand why you need to do a paper app, the Jarvis application portal has an option for DST as does sunfire/connecture.

Also I would also write the policy, crazy to send them to Medicare and lose a client especially with ALL the shenanigans that go on in this industry.
