Settlers Life

I believe an ex-regional manager about as much as an ex-wife. They are an ex for a reason.
Lincoln heritage's rates are higher because they have less restrictive underwriting, they include the Funeral Consumer Society instead of making it optional like Settlers, they run TV ads and they have a Preneed style rapid settlement all of which add to the cost.
If you don't think LH needs the investment return just as much as Settlers and all insurance companies...all I can say is...I would never believe that in a million years.
And Shenandoah didn't exactly exit the FE business...they tanked. They were in ALL types of insurance.
If Settlers really had problems, all they would need to do is raise rates. They could go up and still be competitive with most other companies.
Settlers product is attractive to healthier seniors who buy from a local agent where LH is attractive to less healthy people and many through telemarketers (more likely to lie about health and tobacco use).
I would rather count on Settlers future than Lincoln Heritage. But I believe they will both be around awhile.

Don't know why they would accept someone thru a GA just because they think he has been screened, and is a good producer.

Sounds to me like they overloaded themselves...oh well.

A lot of companies require you to go through a GA. Dealing direct with agents is a distraction.
There are plenty of GAs for Settlers. Just make sure you pay attention to the renewal commission level you get NOT just the 1st year. I know of one very popular one that bumps up the 1st year 5% but reduces the renewals 5% for the next 9 years. Don't fall for that.

I have Verizon and I feel there network is far more reliable than AT&T was when I had them. Dropped calls on AT&T are a definite problem. I do feel though that the Iphone adds to the issue, because while its awesome at apps, its just not a very reliable cell phone. If you can afford to have two contracts I recommend going with Verizon for voice than get an Iphone for apps. I cant afford that now and prefer to have a reliable phone.

HUH!!!!!!!

Scott, With a good GA, what might one expect in renewals? 11%? How many years?

The standard contract with Settlers is 100 yr 1/ 11 years 2-10/ 4 years 11 on.
If you are a proven high producer you can bump that up in all areas.
If you have a GA that is hands on training you or providing free leads or something it will be reduced of course.
