Sharia Law Embraces Homophobia

O, I am very serious in the comparison. The right wing is not as extreme as sharia but still very socially oppressing.
The right wing have been on a revisionist tear lately. They are claiming to be champions of civil rights because the parties switched in 1964 over the civil rights act. Now they claim to be responsible for all the causes Northern liberals worked for. It's a lie. Conservatives never supported equal rights and they used their religion as justification. They are doing the same thing today with gays.
This country has been divided by geography from it's inception. The North has been the champions of freedom and the south the oppressors. Even during the revolution we had drag the southerners by the ear to support freedom and independence. Same as today. The cause remains the same and the dividing line is just as clear.

Barack Obama ran for president twice and he did not support equality for gays in either of his campaigns. Later after joe let the cat out of the bag first and he did not have to worry about an election he came out in support of marriage equality. So don't make like there is this long, long history of dems supporting gay rights where conservatives have not.

Obama is one person, however he is still far ahead of Robert Barney.
My point remains valid, though. The movements toward freedom and equality have come from the liberals throughout American history and traditionally opposed by conservatives. The credit the right wing claims for these issues is a total lie. The south didn't vote republican for 100 years because Lincoln ended slavery. The vast majority of the votes and popular support for civil rights, including not just minorities but women, the disabled, the elderly etc come from the Northern and coastal states.
Now take a look at States with hate crime laws and protections for gays in employment you will find liberal states have those protections and conservative states mostly do not. And yes, conservatives aren't throwing gay people off buildings but they aren't supporting their full equality in society either.

No. I did not say they are approximately equal, I said they are comparable.
Islam has a lot of serious problems on a magnitude that is not comparable to our domestic squabbling. The issue I brought up in context of the original post's theory was how conservatives want to take credit for American civil rights movements, specifically with gays. This is not true. As I wrote before conservatives aren't throwing gays off of buildings but they aren't protecting their rights to inclusion and opportunity in this country either.

Robert, this nonsense any 6th grade American kid knows. I don't know if you keep bringing these alternative facts up because you were educated in Canada or if you actually believe the south was liberal until 1964 but whatever the reason stop bringing it up to me. It's a stupid and totally ignorant point and only shows your knowledge of our country is pathetic. At least try not to look stupid.
