Folks have gone on and on about the benefits/pitfalls of blogging. ost of this conversation comes from SEO/web folks...

What is the opinion of leaders in the insurance industry?

Many thanks!

Insurance should been seen as a marketing job, not a sales job. So to answer your question regarding blogging, I answer by saying the more visibility the better my friend.

@ oxford - thanks for the advice. Question though, given I am new, and that I should probably be blogging, and that it should be my material...there seems to be a bit of a conflict here....no?

If you can write well, then yes you should be writing your own material. You wouldn't hire someone else to go out and make sales for you, so if you have the ability you should be writing your own blog posts with the same compelling methods you use in your person-to-person sales. Of course, your blog is not actually asking for a sale, it's simply an information tool that increases your authority, visibility and trustworthiness--but if you are good with sales you can use that in your writing to give it a subliminal push.

If you have trouble writing or your messages don't seem to come across the same way when you write as when you sell in person, then you should hire someone.
