Showing Up for an Appointment on a Motorcycle

I have an appointment tomorrow about 2 hours away. It is going to be a beautiful day here, and I am toying with the idea of riding my motorcycle over. My client is a male in his late 60s. Honda Goldwing, nothing loud like a Harley (nothing against Harley's). Would this be unprofessional? I am guessing it probably would be, but thought I would throw it out there:)

Have fun with it. Unconventional yes. I wouldn't say unprofessional as long as you can dress as you normally would, I wouldn't go dressed in all black leather and all. Now if you were selling a larger annuity or a large, permanent life policy I wouldn't. On the flip side you never know how the client will respond until you get there.

These days it would probably be accepted by many people. However a few years ago, it would not have been a good idea if you are calling on a senior. I remember when the church my grandmother attended had a minister that rode a Harley when he called on his members and did his hospital visits.. He was a really nice guy but my grandmother didn't care for him because of the way he dressed, his long hair and the bike. She always referred to him as "that little beady eyed hoodlum". I can't imagine she would have ever bought insurance from him.

Funny story, when I used to sell roofs after a hail storms, I was waiting at the house for the adjuster. He pulls up in a Harley...with the ladder strapped to the back of his seat.

Great guy too. I go to church with him now lol.

It would make some people stereo-type you as unprofessional. But MANY seniors love Gold-Wings and either ride, have friends who ride or always wanted to.

I managed a Honda Motorcycle dealership for 19-years and sold a lot of Gold Wings. The average Gold Wing buyer didn't buy their bike until after age 60 and at least half of them had never ridden another motorcycle before in their entire life.

So I would say, if you're going to ride to appointments...you have the right bike.

I would ride to every appt if I didn't have people calling me all day long. It certainly makes your day more enjoyable. The only issue I have is making sure the biker tattoos are covered up.;);)
