Showing Up for an Appointment on a Motorcycle

You think you feel old? When I started selling Gold Wings they were the original GL-1000 with no bags or fairings or anything. We had to buy all the stuff from Craig Vetter to dress them up. It was very crude back in those days compared to now. The Gold Wings became very nice when the 1500's came out in 1988. It was my favorite bike to ride back then and I was only age 28 and could ride anything I wanted.

I left that business in 1996 and got into funeral Preneed and insurance. I had all Harley's after that until I fell in love with my Yamaha and set it up exactly how I wanted it. I don't ride much at all anymore but keep Yam the Bomb around for the occasional Sunday ride. I'll probably pick up another Gold Wing when I retire and have more time to travel. I bought a Harley Ultra Classic about 10-years ago but didn't like it except for long highway rides.

I'd have one of everything if the wife would just let me.

Those GL1500's were a heck of a bike following the 1200. The 1000's, 1100's and 1200's look like dinosaurs now. I'd have to say that pushing a 1500 almost seems easier than driving a 1100 or 1200.

No, I've tried it... Didn't have much success at it. How she working out for you?

She's been able to set 3 appointments out of the 12 leads I received on my mail drop. So, not great so far. I think she is prettygood, and very diligent, but not sure it is worth the extra money. Will probably just set them myself in the future.

They still look good! Although, I must admit I am a little biased:)

The 1100's and 1200's handled like a garbage truck compared to the 1500. It was a huge improvement. A lot of the old ones also had a major clutch basket rattle when at idle. I hated that.

I had a phone lead that I talked to a few times. I couldn't get him to commit to an appointment. I was out on my Harley (2 hrs away) and saw the sign for his town. I pulled over, called from the side of the road and said I'm in the area, and if you don't mind big loud Harleys, I'll stop by. Nice guy, sat and talked bikes for awhile, left him with a card and brochure. I wish it would have ended better, but it was a great interaction! And he still hasn't moved into my 'no' pile. I'll work it again soon.
I will definitely do it again, but mine is kinda loud, so I'll give 'em a heads up :)

Keep the shiney side up,
Jim
