SILAC?

was just doing a quick search here on Silac and cancellation, came across your post and think youre still around. lol.

Just had a call from a 75 yr old female referral, she's on Silac Med Supp plan F. Premium through the roof, she's relatively healthy, just wet macro degen and two cholesterol meds, non smoker, good weight...didn't have the underwriting guide so called and Humana said not a problem on the wet MD....wasn't sure...no shots til Oct.

Checked other supps can take her from $463 month, to $162 on humana G, normally would do Aetna, and maybe still will but raw taste with them atm.

My question is when new plans effective, what's the best way to go about having her cancel Silac...just call and cancel or are they going to want new dec sheet, copy of new card, wet ink signature letter and all that?
Just get her to cancel her bank draft.

Wouldn't hurt to have her send a letter. Some companies try to make it more difficult than it really is. But most don't.

No . Let her call immediately and take her Silac off bank draft . Tell them to bill her quarterly .You want to do this so she's not double drafted. Write new app and get approval for 9/1 . Once approved wait till she gets her new card and she can call and cancel any time in the next month . Actually she doesn't even need to cancel it. It will self cancel after 30 day grace period expires .
That's right. perfect. as usual thanks for the fast accurate answer.

Also perfect..

Thanks guys. 1st time come across Silac. BTW, UHC was a real pain in the ass on last one. Wanted way too many things plus the kitchen sink, plus still never cancelled for over 3 months. Hope Silac doesn't turn out to be that way....

Sups have to be cancelled. You can't let it go into grace period because she would have two sups for a month and that's not allowed. It would sort itself out if you don't cancel but why do they need an agent if it's waiting to be sorted out.

I just helped a client change using the Ky birthday rule. She's approved for Sept 1. We called Aetna and took it off draft and told them to cancel on August 31.

Like Don said. Change to quarterly or call her bank and stop the draft. But changing to quarterly is an extra layer in case someone screws up.

She doesn't have to cancel anything.

Just make damn sure she doesn't take that tag off her mattress. All hell would break loose if she did that.

I never cancel a Med Supp. I always stop the bank draft and tell them to let it lapse itself. That way if something goes wrong, they can keep their old one.
