Great topic!

I think there should be more options above 800 though. There are several with books over +1,200. That's potentially $120,000/yr more than an BoB of 800.
True.

Also, one of the unfortunate things is eventually a portion of the book of business is unpaid (ie med supps 7yrs old+).

In my CRM I have the med supp effective dates that way I can see how many are in the book (total) but I can also segment the number to see how many are still commussionable.

Obviously we still service the 7+ who can't move to a new carrier - we were paid fairly on those, but just for the snapshot of the book it's good to know the split.

Added more options. So I have been in the industry for 13 years, and recently went independent about 2 years ago. I am so close to 400 clients.
That's awesome - 400 is roughly the 6-figure mark (it's usually over 6-figures but more thinking take-home money after some expenses).

1-400 is harder than 401-800. (in terms of marketing)
401-800 is harder than 801-1200...

Make sure you get spouses, cousins, etc. - the 400 you've built so far can give you some lay downs if you do it right.

Take care of your clients, including those where you earn little of nothing, and your business will continue to grow and be profitable.

If your focus is on clients, you will be rewarded.

If your focus in commissions, your business will eventually collapse.
My clients appreciate that I'm only in it for the money.
