Software/systems guy looking to learn

The majority of my insurance knowledge is only as a customer. :)

I've spent the last decade or two designing large software systems (specifically distributed systems) but have always maintained a general interest in business. A friend of mine is a captive agent and we've spent time discussing ways to improve his agency, so I'm trying to learn more about the industry.

So far, I've been reading The UnCaptive Agent and am considering getting licensed just for fun (I like learning, and have no interest in stopping software development). If there are any great threads discussing how to improve good agencies, please don't hesitate to point them out.

Also, I'm happy to talk tech and answer any questions I can. Cheers!

Everyone has a different idea of fun. This is what I was doing today.

Haha, that's fair. Really, I was just saying I like learning new stuff and I'm not looking to start a new career. As soon as I hit some annoying bureaucracy I'd probably just skip that part. Learning is more interesting than the literal license.
