I posted about my first death claim with SofN last year. The policy was less than a year old and he died in October. Was unable to make contact with the beneficiary for 6 weeks or so. She figured the policy would not pay so she did not send the company any medical history details. I convinced her to give me what they needed. On Monday I received notice that they paid the claim in full. She is a happy client. I followed up with the company to make sure things were proceeding. They wrote for records and instead of contacting anyone they just waited. I lit a fire under the claims department got it done.

How would you rate SofN when comes to their customer service, underwriting, commission payouts, and the product overall?

There are only a couple of HO staff that I contact when I have an issue. If they don't answer their phone they will respond to an email. The underwriting has longer look back than some other FE companies and if I have a question I email the director and she will let me know if they will consider the case. Commissions are lower than most FE companies but you won't lose a case because of price. I have only written the GI and the SIWL and now that I know they pay contestable claims instead of trying to find a reason not to I will use them more often.

How are they with diabetes? Diabetes with complications, e.g. neuropathy?

Two on my desk now and several under my belt as far as GI. Commission of course is the question, but balanced out with commission, they have no equal that I've met.

How difficult was the SIWL?

My main heart burn is there is no way to follow business unless they e-mail you or you call (no agent portal), and commissions are a scary mess.

They are good for an occasional guaranteed issue case but I wouldn't put much more business on the books than that. They just don't have the logistical system in place to get much more business.

I really would like to have a one and all go to when it comes to GI. The problem of course is DE. Not to mention low commissions.

After Settlers closed 11/2018 I needed to pick up something ROP. I had been writing Bronze, and Settlers didn't want you to have any more than 20% on the books.

I picked up GW. Easy app, hardly have any interaction or need to contact home office which I like. Their E App is a snap, can be completed in less than 10 minutes and requires no internet connnection. It should be the model for all other companies who offer E Apps.

My only complaint with them is no SS drafting/billing. Persistency is below average. They just spent $$$ to redo their website which had been just fine but fail to spend $ to update their billing system and get on board with the other players in the FE market ? SMH.

I've been pitched over and over about picking up SON and GTL.

What do you think ?
