Hi, I am a soon to be new agent. I take the exam for Tx in a week. I will be starting with Aflac, I know, I have seen some not so flattering things about them here. But they are easy to get on with and seem to have a good product, that I have used personally. It is also something I can start with part time to learn the business. ( If anyone has a better suggestion though, I am open to hearing it.)

The problem I face , well one of them, is that I am new in town and don't know a lot of people. So I was thinking that since I will be marketing primarily to small businesses that maybe I could find some way of providing them with something they need as a way of building a relationship. I was thinking something along the lines of free seminars or classes for new business owners, maybe partner with some accountants in the area and have them offer some info on taxes, or something like that.

Just wondering if any of you get what I am saying and do you think something like that would work, maybe.

I think you're going to waste a bunch of time and energy with Aflac and after about 3 months will have some fairly negative things to say about Aflac.

I wouldn't start at AFLAC. Almost any other gig would be preferable. Try AGLA. You can sell voluntary through AGLA and also have some decent individual products.

I don't understand what's so bad about aflac. The DSC seemed to be ok, and explained the training process which seemed o.k. to me. How bad could they be?
