SR-22 Auto Insurance Marketing and Prospecting

Hi everyone, I am going to start going after high risk SR22 and DUI auto insurance. I was wondering if you guys had any good prospecting ideas? I was going to go to all DUI lawyers in town and drop off my card. Is there any way to get a list of current DUI listings?

I'm sure there is. Maybe a pay-site through the state. Most attorneys have auto-mail for those involved in a car accident. Maybe you could setup the same thing when someone gets a DUI. I'd def. talk to some of the lawyers and see how they find out when someone has accident.

Good luck with that clientele....you may be best going around to all the clubs and bars near you and having a beer with the locals to be known as the "DUI Insurance guy". At least then you'll know were to find them when they are late on their payments.

You can do a public records search by county for DUI's. There could also be a service that provides the info. I remember back in college when one of my roomates got a DUI, he received 12 letters from attorney's within 2 days. We didn't even know it happened until we got the mail.

Ahh, you are stealing my best ideas! Hi premium, no lapses, great market, if you avoid the under 25 crowd.

Its nice when the insurance is the 'must pay' bill.

To make it work though, you have to have a good carrier, instant issue SR-22's and decent rates. If you don't have decent rates, other agents will just write it out from under you. There are more agents than you might think that like working this market.

I have found Bristol West and Commerce West to be very competitive in CA. I do mostly commercial with a lot of clubs, restaurants, bars/taverns so I end up with a fair amount of DUI referrals. As you say, they are pretty good accounts for those over 25. Most realize they are going to get hammered for awhile, they complain about the rates but know that can't blame anybody but themselves.

Have fun with those accounts. You may be doing more paperwork and payment followups than what its worth. I would recommend doing hard advertising. I would suggest doing bus stop benches by the court house or other flyers posted on light poles by the courthouse.

Are there companies that sell leads for this line of insurance?

I'm asking because I'm a potential affiliate not a potential buyer.
