SR-22 Insurance Underwriters

I am looking at getting into writing some SR-22 Insurance, I am looking for a few national companies that will write it. Any good companies that I should contact.

unitrin Unitrin Insurance Agents
bristol west (owned by Farmers now, not sure if they will appoint new agents)

pretty much will take care of any non-standard you need.

Keep in mind, retention ratios on this will be 0.001%. It's a great niche market, but it is a service nightmare.

By the way, I don't know anyone who writes non-standard nationally, but then, I've never really looked either.

Progressive, GMAC are 2 big players. I like GMAC's customer service better.

You might want to charge an application fee for your nonstandard people to try and offset the cost of administering all their late payments, etc.

Travelers will as well. Progressive is probably the best, since they will write out-of-state SR22s. Farmers is still appointing new agents (or, at least that's what I'm being told every time the Foremost rep comes by).

What state are you in? There are usually regional or state specific companies that can help. I write about 20 SR-22 per month with a couple carriers. Dairyland is an option as well.
