SSN and FE Insurance Application

I have experienced one case that I do not know how to overcome the difficulty. A old lady applied for FE insurance. Everything is fine until I ask her for social security number. She said "No, No, No, my son told me never give social security number to anybody". I explained that we have to have social security number to get the application done. I showed her my life insurance license that I am a legit agent. I showed her I used a carrier's quote engine. But I still do not have a way to get her SSN. What other suggestions you guys have to convincing the old lady to give me her SSN and get this application complete?

"I totally understand Mildred. However, that is what the company needs to pay your death claim to your son. They match your social security number to that on the death certificate…"

This is always funny to me. It always seems that objection always comes from the poorest people that have nothing. I would love to say… "You do not have to worry about me stealing your identity Mildred. I would not take your identity it if you gave it to me. You have nothing! Then I would quote Dave Chappelle… "I'm rich beeyatch"
;)

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

Would you give your ss# to your tax preparer?

Some people, need to have your personal info in order to help you. I'm one of those people. I can't do my job without it.

If you are concern about me, you can call the INS Dept and ask them if i have a valid lic and is there any compliants filed against me. Also look at my BBB and my NEB record.

ALso tell her why you need her ss#. Also tell her it helps us pull her medical info that will help us with the underwriting.

I really like your arguments here. That would be what I would say.

I would not automatically move on the first time they "balk" at giving out SSN, I do like Hooiser Daddy explained that this is necessary to pay the death benefit. Afterwards it they continue to balk about not wanting to put their ssn on the application, then it might be time to move on. Plenty of fish in the sea.

Tell them that if they wish, we can use their Medicare number instead. Then write it down and leave the letter on the end off :)
