Starting a Nationwide Agency in GA

I may have the opportunity of starting up a Nationwide Insurance agency in metro-Atlanta. The training program sounds good. Are there any agent owners that either regret their decision or glad to be part of Nationwide.

I'm also curious - I have an interview with them next Friday regarding an opening in Columbia, MD.

From what I heard on the phone it sounds great and blows Farmers away by a mile. $40k base/year plus commissions. They supply computer, air card, and blackberry. They also give $15k for 1st year marketing. The first year or two you sell out of the main office and then once you are done with the 18-24mo. program they provide 65-95k to open an agency.

As for rates, that depends on the area. My reserach is telling me as of now that they are competitive in that area in Maryland but I'm not sure about Georgia

Good Luck and let me know how it pans out.

I was with Allstate running an agency for an AWOL agent (guy bought it, said "here you go Josh", and left) and learned an awful lot about all sorts of things. One thing that has become clear out of that experience is that captive situations like that can vary by area. You might want to talk to some of the nationwide folks in your area about what they like and don't like.
