There is a ton of info on here with all of your questions. I would start by just sitting down and simply going through the Threads. But, one thing you mentioned that may be a bit concerning is you're not sure if you are cut out for this? Any doubt of your success truly will hurt your success.

You either need to make the decision you CAN or Cannot do this. If others are doing, why can't you? THAT is the attitude you need to have.

Good luck!

Well thank you. Im just trying to be real. I have heard people say they know they can make 50 grand first year. Thats not me i want to start slow and be successful in the long term in doing it the right way.

As has been said, there are many options but you gotta start somewhere! I like dealing with Premier Senior Marketing. I would post a link but haven't been in the forum long enough. You can google them though.
They have a turnkey marketing system that uses a program called Legacy Safeguard as a door opener that naturally leads to final expense insurance. A Mutual of Omaha company and Monumental Life are tied in with it. One advantage for a new agent is that there is a script provided that not only helps make the sale but gathers referrals too. No option is perfect but it's a start! Good luck!
PS: I have no ties with the above agency other than as a producer.

I am new as well. But if I only make 50 my first year that better be after my lead and gas expenses. I think that is realistic as long as you are willing to learn and more importantly, work. Of course, this is based on what a lot of agents do on this board. Maybe this group is just more successful than most. It still won't make me lower my expectations though. Good luck!

This can be a very rewarding career if you work hard and have the ability to do it.

Do you need leads? If so then you need to get with an IMO that offers training and leads.

If you don't need leads then you have more options but you still need to get with an IMO that will train you.

Do not go with any IMO that wants you assign commissions.

Your questions are too open ended to give real answers. The "helping people" is also a bit of a concern. We do help people but that's a by product of the job. If that's the driving force then do volunter work.

Thanks for the replies. I do need leads and a GOOD imo or fmo. Have no idea what to really look for in one. I have enough sense to know that if your not careful you can get screwed.

I am partial to EFES but only under the right management team there.

Depending on where you are located might dictate which RD you could be under. If you look at EFES be as close to the RD as possible. Don't out several layers betwen you and the RD.

Securus might be a good fit. I don't like that they make you pay for leads before you receive them but that's a minor point if you actually get the leads. Same would said for them, be as close to the top guys as possible. You never want to be the 3rd, 4th or 5th agent down the line from the company.

Be wary of companies like LH and SL. Even in the case that you could get with a person that offeres training and leads you are tied to only one company. And those are over priced companies.

I hear some good things about PHR but I don't have enough details to give advice on them. I'm sure it's here at the forum.

Lastly, do not sign up with anyone that seeks you out from here. If you didn't make the first contact, beware!

Good way to find out is a little bit on here but then also....internet searches. Linkedin is a very, very reputable place to get real answers also.
