The rules are "like voter intimidation," said Sara Rosenbaum, a health law professor at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., who supports Obama's act. "In many, many cases these laws may be a direct interference with outreach assistance and that's going to be quite serious."

"This is a consumer protection issue more than anything," said Kenneth Statz, an insurance broker on the legislative council of the National Association of Health Underwriters. "We just want to make sure that somebody who is sitting down with a consumer, trying to help them make this major decision, is going to be properly prepared."

Voter Intimidation is a harsh example for states requiring that government employees performing essentially the same job as brokers (as far as PII, forms, and location in distribution is concerned) have similar licensing and security requirements. I'd wager most citizens would be more comfortable giving their vital info to someone who's been trained, licensed, and checked.

I like how they say (in so many words) "The federal law doesn't require background checks, though navigators must provide quarterly reports and can lose their grants in cases of fraud or abuse. "

Oh geeze, I feel much safer. They'll catch the abuse whenever they get around to reviewing their quarterly report in-depth, and then fire them. That's far preferable to actually checking these people in advance and weeding out the riffraff.

Ah yes voter intimidation to make sure the consumers you enroll who may very well be stuck with said plan for some time should not speak with someone who has to show at least a basic competency of how health insurance works.

I don't know what these groups are complaining about they have thier Grants they have already been paid.

Wouldn't you know it... Illinois thinks it has found a way to enroll inmates and those awaiting sentencing in ObamaCare. Will save state and local governments a lot of money in inmate medical costs!

"ROCKFORD — Hundreds of people in the Winnebago County Jail awaiting trial will have access to health insurance starting Jan. 1 when new provisions to the Affordable Care Act go into effect.
Leaders of Winnebago County's criminal justice system, namely Chief Judge Joe McGraw, and the nonprofit TASC want to develop a plan to enroll inmates and those under court supervision for coverage under the act, commonly called Obamacare."

In a carrier seminar I attended today, ObamaCare was likened to one of those glass tubes on a game-show where you get in, money blows around, and you grab all that you can. TRILLIONS of DOLLARS puts dollar signs in everyone's eyes! (Except agents, of course.)
